Sunday night, HBO brought out the big guns. The network hit us with a one-two punch of fantasy drama. They kicked off season two of Game of Thrones and premiered a new trailer for True Blood.
Earlier this year, HBO released a TV spot in promotion of True Blood‘s fifth season. But it left a lot to the imagination. Thankfully, the latest ad doesn’t play it safe. It features plenty of new footage and new characters. It’s also accompanied by a voiceover that declares, “So as the beetle nourishes the lark, so shall human nourish vampire.”
In typical True Blood fashion, plenty of flesh is shown in the 30-second clip. Sookie’s sitting in a shower (contemplating life), Sam’s preparing to shapeshift, and Jason’s topless—just because. In one shot, even Eric seems to have lost his shirt. Speaking of the Viking, he’s shown locking lips with an unidentified woman. Who could she be?
This season, True Blood regulars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard and Ryan Kwanten will be joined by several newcomers, including Christopher Meloni (Law Order: SVU), Lucy Griffiths (Robin Hood) and Peter Mensah (Starz’s Spartacus).
True Blood returns to HBO this summer.
